Form Tutors
Form tutors are one of the most integral parts of the pastoral system within the school. They build strong, meaningful relationships with their tutees, understanding each child’s unique strengths and challenges. They serve as the first point of contact for both academic guidance and personal support, ensuring that students feel consistently seen, heard, and encouraged. They will act as a consistent guide, mentor and sounding board throughout either their Lower and Middle school journey before transitioning to one of our Sixth Form team of tutors.
In Lower and Middle School, tutor groups will have a maximum of 22 students in each with this reducing in size as they progress through school to give a more personal service as students navigate their examination years. Students will meet their tutor every morning for a 5 minute registration before embarking on their day. There is also a further extended contact point in the middle of the day, where tutors will spend a further 25 minutes engaging student in the pastoral programme designed specifically for each year group.
Every member of the teaching staff is involved in the tutoring system, either as a form tutor or as a cover form tutor in the case of staff absence. All staff are also aware of their impact on the pastoral care of students even through their academic teaching.
Opportunities are provided throughout the year for parents to meet briefly with their child’s form tutor, and are available to contact as need arises between these times.
