Netball update - June 2022

Term 3 has seen our three World School Games squads in training for the competition at Loughborough University from the 29th of June to 3rd July.  U13, U15 and U17 squads are travelling to play against some of the best netballing schools in the UK in a two-day competition at arguably the world's best sporting university.  We have been very fortunate to have been sponsored by Genesis Healthcare, ANC and Mefitpro for kit and recovery products, we are so grateful and are looking forward to doing them proud on court.  The squads have trained consistently including early mornings, late nights, lunchtimes and 121 sessions with fixtures against local club sides and Allstars teams.  The girls are really excited to go and can't wait to test themselves against some tough UK competition.

Term 3 also saw four of our girls and a member of staff playing for the UAE Open team in the European Championships in the Isle of Man.  After wins against Malta, Israel and Gibraltar they played a final v the Republic of Ireland but sadly lost so took a Silver medal - a brilliant achievement nonetheless, congratulations to Charlie, Jemma, Kate, Sophie and Geography teacher Ms Quigley!

It has been wonderful to have the rest of our age group squads in training this term, all just for fun in readiness for the new season in September.  Pre-season will be from 22nd August-25th August and further information will follow.

End of the year means goodbyes and we are sad to see our Year 13's leave.  Six of the best this year and we say thank you and good luck to the following:  Charlotte C, Chia M, Zainab H, Lauren A, Maddie A P and Farasha A.  Charlotte, Zainab and Lauren have been fantastic Captain and Vices not losing a game and winning an historic Dubai 7's Open Youth title as well as the U19 DASSA Championship, these girls have been true role models for our younger years both on and off the court, the DC Netball family wish them well in their next adventure and hope they continue to play in the future.
