DC Alumni Delivers Inspiring Singing Masterclasses
We were thrilled to welcome DC alumnus Zahid S. (Class of 2016) back to Dubai College, where he led a series of inspiring masterclasses for our singers. Drawing on his successful international opera career, Zahid offered expert guidance on vocal technique, characterisation, and stage presence, concluding the weekend with a stunning performance that left students motivated and inspired.

The Royal College of Music Violin Workshop was a highly inspiring day, giving DC string players the opportunity to work with Madeleine Mitchell on a varied and engaging programme while developing key ensemble and orchestral skills. The workshop concluded with a superb concert for parents, reflecting the students’ focus, musical growth, and the invaluable expertise shared throughout the day.

The economics trip to Vietnam was an unforgettable experience that combined cultural immersion with real-world learning, from vibrant cities and night markets to rural life in the Mekong Delta and breathtaking Ha Long Bay. Through factory visits, hands-on activities, and shared experiences with friends, the trip brought economics to life while creating memories that will last a lifetime.

Over the winter break, Jumaanah organised a seven-hour bakeathon, raising AED 1,060 for UWS Kalika in Nepal with the support of her neighbours. By baking and sharing over 100 cookies and cupcakes, she showed how passion and community spirit can come together to make a meaningful impact.

The DC girls competed in their first international tennis tournament in Hua Hin, overcoming travel fatigue and tough opposition to produce several strong performances, highlighted by Ria reaching the main-draw quarterfinals and solid wins across the back draw. Beyond the matches, the trip built team spirit and unforgettable memories, making the experience both successful and motivating for future tournaments.

This term, the Sustainability Club focused on expanding projects and collaborations, with DC CarShare as its flagship initiative. Developed with the Computer Science Society, the app aims to make carpooling easier for the Dubai College community. A survey showed strong interest, and an MVP launch is planned for next term. The club also published the second edition of its Sustainability Magazine, supported a drama production on sustainability, and hosted debates. Leadership transitioned to Ali-Mansur V as president, with new roles introduced to strengthen the team.

What a fantastic sporting term! Our fields and courts have been alive with energy, teamwork, and outstanding performances. From early mornings to late evenings, training and fixtures kept us busy, alongside exciting tournaments and overseas tours to Europe—with Sri Lanka next!
