Year 7 Frequently Asked Questions

Arabic A will also be assessed for those students who are registered with an Arab nationality (as per the nationality on the Emirates ID card) or who are studying Arabic A voluntarily in their primary school and wish to continue to study Arabic A at secondary school.  There will be a written assessment lasting 45 minutes and students' spoken Arabic will also be assessed.

Students who hold an Arab passport and are currently attending school outside the UAE must contact the Registrar.

Please note: to ensure fairness for all applicants, unfortunately we will be unable to respond to individual requests for further information on our entrance assessment. We would kindly request that staff members are not asked for more details.

In addition to the entrance assessment, the Admissions Panel will consider the items below.  The Admissions Panel is comprised of the Head, the Deputy Head - Pastoral, and representatives from our English, Maths and pastoral departments.  

• End of Year 5 school report – submitted as part of the student’s online application
• End of Year 5 GL Progress Test (PTE,PTM,PTS) results for students at school in Dubai in Year 5.   If you have already received these from your child’s school at the time of applying, please include them with your application.
• Most recent CAT4 / standardised test results.  If you have already received these from your child’s school at the time of applying, please include them with your application.
• If you have not received the GL Progress Test and/or CAT4 test results from your child’s school, please ensure that you provide your consent within the online application form for us to contact your child’s school to obtain these.  
• Extra-curricular profile – for entry in 2025, extra-curricular information can only be submitted on our standard template which is available on the Y7 How to Apply webpage.  The completed template must be uploaded within your online application and will not be accepted separately.  We strongly recommend that families take this opportunity to tell us about their child’s extra-curricular achievements and interests.  Dubai College is not affiliated with any extra-curricular provider(s). There is no priority or preferential treatment afforded to any student on the basis of attending a club or activity offered by any specific provider/s
• Any SEND or medical information.

For entry to Year 7 in August 2025 a total fee of AED 525 including VAT is payable.  This is made up of an application fee (AED 100 + VAT) and an assessment fee (AED 400 + VAT). 

Dubai College does not endorse tutoring for our entrance assessment.  If you consider that your child requires tutoring to succeed at the entrance assessment, then you may wish to question whether this would be the right school for your child.

Dubai College welcomes applicants from students of determination who would benefit from the academic rigour of our curriculum. Students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), whose academic profile fits with the selective entrance criteria, will be supported fully if successful.

Please ensure that you indicate on the online application form if there are any barriers to learning. We may require a recent Educational Psychologist report, and IEP or a letter from the SENCO at your child’s school if you would like to be considered for access arrangements for the entrance assessment.

Dubai College is heavily over-subscribed and in recent years we have received more than three applications per place. For entry in August 2024, there were more than four applications for each place.  

There will be 176 places available for entry to Year 7 in August 2025; there will be 8 forms with 22 students in each form.

For students offered places in Year 7 in August 2025 following our entrance process, a non-refundable deposit of 10% of the annual tuition fees will be payable by the end of January 2025 to secure your child’s place.
