Emphasis is placed on creating opportunities for students.

Sport is an integral part of the DC Experience. Everyone is encouraged to enjoy and take advantage of the numerous opportunities to participate in the co curricular sporting programme. The range of activities on offer, coupled with a comprehensive competitive sporting calendar, affords all students the chance to compete at their own level.

The House programme is central to the life of the College. The sporting competitions are varied and take place most weeks during the year. There is an expectation that students will participate and support their house teams.

In recent years the College has gained an impressive reputation in the competitive sporting arena. DC teams gain regular sporting successes regionally in such sports as netball, swimming, rugby, football, cricket, athletics and basketball. In recent years the College has taken great pride in the international success achieved by our teams and individual sporting stars. On the rugby field the Under 19 team has been double champions in the Dubai International Sevens and the Under 14 team has been back to back winners at the Hong Kong International Schools’ Tournament. Football teams at several age groups have earned success at Gulf Unity Championships and our the netball teams have rightfully gained an enviable reputation in the Senior Ladies Leagues, with several girls gaining representative honours each season. Touring netball and rugby teams have visited Australia and our second tour is planned for the summer of 2009.

In addition DC students have achieved international successes in the swimming pool, in sailing, on the golf course and the tennis court. 2007 saw DC stage the first ever Easter Schools’ Cricket Festival, attracting several sides from the UK.  Indeed the number of visiting teams from overseas has increased considerably in recent years and this trend looks set to continue.

Sport at DC is in a very healthy state!
