Our
pastoral care system is concerned with the general welfare of the
individual pupil and, through
cooperation with parents, aims to ensure
that the pupil’s school experience is highly positive and enjoyable.
Where the school has concerns about a pupil it will discuss them with
parents, and it encourages parents to inform the school of any issues
which may have a bearing on their son or daughter’s performance.
For
such matters, the Heads of Sections are usually the first point of
contact for parents, closely followed by the form teacher who has
day-to-day oversight of the pupils’ welfare.
The work of the form teacher is directed by the Head of Section
and the deputies, who meet weekly with the Headmaster to discuss general
pastoral matters along with the needs of the individual.
The
programme of Personal, Social and Health education which develops
incrementally throughout the school, aims to prepare pupils for the
wider world, informing and making them aware of the opportunities and
risks which will present themselves as the pupils develop.
