2006 Examination Results Facts

Dubai College students once again excelled in this year’s GCSE, GCE AS Level and GCE A Level examinations. The Year 12 AS Level results were very promising with several students producing first class results that bode well for next year.

The GCE A Level results were truly outstanding with a 100% pass rate A to D.  The A to B pass rate, which forms the basis for comparison of UK league tables, was 84.4%, placing the College 78th in the top 350 UK Independent Schools.  Ten students achieved four grade As with a further twenty three gaining straight As in three subjects. The results have enabled the students to take up offers at some of the very best universities in the UK and US including Cambridge , LSE, Columbia and Berkeley .

Year 11 students produced an equally impressive set of results achieving a pass rate of 100% at GCSE which included a 77.5% pass rate at A*and A grades.  Bernard Pereira, Abeer Mian, Ishika Das, Samar Kazranian, Noor Khan and Jenny Adamson gained A* grades in every subject. (In comparison the UK average was 19.1%).

Several individual students also received commendations from the exam boards for outstanding achievement. From over 114,000 candidates Marie Al Rustom (10CJ), Lauren Bruffaerts (11JS), Anushka Chugani (11BV) and Nupur Mohan (11CA) each gained one of the top five marks in their French GCSE paper.  This achievement made even more remarkable in that they were sitting the papers at least one year earlier and congratulations go to the rest of the “accelerated” French group who all achieved the top A* grade.  In addition one of the highlights of this year’s results was the performance of Bethan Jones (12TD) who also received a commendation award for achieving one of the top five marks out of an entry of nearly 380,000 candidates for her English Literature GCSE examination.
