ADMISSIONS AND CURRICULUM

Admissions

Admission to the school is by entry test for Years 7, 8, 9 and 10. For applicants from schools in the Emirates, the entry assessment will be held at Dubai College on a date to be advised.

For overseas applicants, test papers will be sent to their present school, who will administer them on our behalf and return them to us.

The receipt of an application form by the College containing the name, address and e-mail of the current school is taken as parental approval for the dispatch of test papers.

Age of Entry

For entry into Year 7, the applicant should have reached the age of eleven years and completed Year 6 by 1st September.

Applicants younger than this, who have their eleventh birthday before the end of the calendar year, will, in exceptional circumstances, be considered. Applications from pupils younger than this will not be accepted.

For entry into Years 8, 9 and 10 the same conditions apply to the appropriate age group.

Application Requirements

(I)        A completed application form together with 1 passport size photograph and the application registration fee of Dhs. 300 (non-refundable).

(II)       A report from the applicant’s present school. If reports are to be supplied directly by the school, parents are asked to ensure that they are sent to the College.

Once these application requirements have been met, the College will assess the entry test and notify the parents as quickly as possible of the outcome.

Years 11, 12, 13

Entry into Year 11, the second of the two year GCSE course, will only be considered from applicants who have completed the first year of that course in their previous school.

Entry to Year 12 is based on an interview with the head of Sixth Form, and a minimum of five GCSE passes at Grade C or higher, including Mathematics and English.  Usually, subjects selected to be studied at A Level require at least a grade B pass at GCSE. The exception to this is Mathematics, where grade A is required in most cases.

Applicants who have not followed GCSE or equivalent courses, will be asked to sit test papers in their nominated ‘A’ level subjects before places will be offered.

The other requirements for entry into Years 11, 12 and 13 are (I) and (II) listed above.

Careers Guidance

Career guidance and education starts as early as Year 7. Individual interviews with the school’s career adviser take place in Year 9 and again in Year 11 before subject choices are made for GCSE and GCE courses. Morrisby testing, for which we have a qualified administrator, and which matches an individual’s aptitudes to his or her interests and aspirations, is available during Year 11 and to pupils who join the school in Year 12.
