Friends of DC

The Friends of Dubai College is a group open to all parents of the College, former students and their families, teachers, staff and friends within the wider community.

FDC aims to support a range of activities across fund-raising, social, community and cultural events to complement and enrich the educational experience of the students at Dubai College, as well as being a forum for parents to engage in the social side of school life. The group is represented by an annually elected committee who are responsible for the organisation of events and who work to ensure that a sense of well being within the Dubai College community continues to grow.

All potential members of the FDC are encouraged to support the committee in any way. The present committee consists of the following members:

A Message from the Chairman:
The FDC exists as a result of the support from not just those on the committee but also a significant number of others who provide support in setting up, sponsorship and all the other activities that are part of what we do. We have a number of events that are scheduled for this school year. We hope that there will be something for everyone and that you will all get the opportunity to participate.

Upcoming Events:
Term 1 (Autumn Term)
FDC Parents Presentation/AGM Wednesday 5th October 2011
Year 8 Fun Day Thursday 27th October 2011
Year 7 Fun Day Friday 9th December 2011

Term 2 (Spring Term)
Spring Fayre Friday 3rd February 2012
Quiz Night Wednesday 15th February 2012
70/80s Night Friday 16th March 2012

The FDC will continue to provide catering and refreshments at most of the key sporting events held at the College. Anyone who attended the DC Sevens rugby tournament will know how much the work of parents and committee members adds to the success of such events. We were also pleased to assist with the provision of both medical care and water for all teams. Thanks go to Mrs Ashlee Middleton and her team who continue to raise funds with the sale of second-hand uniforms and refreshments at parents’ evenings.

Through these and other events, the FDC aims to raise funds for various projects at the school. Previously we have provided an outside chessboard, a large electronic scoreboard and a cover for the swimming pool.

None of the above happens without the great support the FDC receives from the school. In particular, the Headmaster and the Bursar, Captain Higgins, give encouragement and advice to ensure we stay on track and several teachers and the other school staff have given their time and energy to support the events.

Finally please contact us if you would like to get involved or have any comments/suggestions for us.

We look forward to your continued support.
