Biology A Level
The college adopts the ‘context led approach’ based on the Salters Nuffield Advanced Biology (SNAB) Project. This approach begins with the consideration of an application (such as cardiovascular disease) that draws on many different areas of Biology and then goes on to look at the biological concepts underlying this application.
The college also subscribes to the SNAB online website which provides a vast wealth of resources that the students are able to access both in school and at home. Practical work is a key component in the study of Biology and a wide range of practical investigations are carried out during the course including the amplification and analysis of DNA using the Colleges PCR and electrophoresis machine.
