F1 in Schools

F1 in Schools is a competition in which teams of students are challenged to transform a block of balsa wood into a miniature gas powered car that can travel down a 20 metre track as fast as possible. The students research, design, analyse, make, test and finally race their car. The challenge inspires students to use IT to learn about physics, aerodynamics, design, manufacture, branding, graphics, sponsorship, marketing, leadership, teamwork, media skills and financial strategy, and apply them in a practical, imaginative, competitive and exciting way.The team designs a 20cm long Formula One car.  The cars are raced side-by-side along 20-metre track at more than 60kph.
