DUBAI COLLEGE LIBRARY

Dubai College believes strongly in maintaining a well resourced library for pupils use.
At present, the library holds over 15,000 books, over 260 videos and more than 90 audio cassettes as well as stand alone and network CD ROMS and computer programs and 10 computers with access to internet. We subscribe to over twenty periodicals and journals, both local and international newspapers and have a well stocked reference facility which includes many dictionaries, thesaurus, encyclopedia, atlases and general information books.

The library comprises a study area, video area, a comfortable lounge area, five televisions with video players, six audio players and ten computers available throughout the school day with complete internet access for research purposes.

Volunteers
We have a much valued system of using voluntary helpers in the school library. If any parent could spare a few hours to assist Mrs. Gosavi we should be very grateful. Times when help would be most appreciated are between 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. Saturday to Tuesday.

The library system uses the 'Alice' for Windows library automation package. Pupils simply present their library card to be scanned into the computer and it is tracked automatically. Pupils may borrow up to eight books for a three week period and renew this as necessary They also may reserve all media and are notified when their choice becomes available. Back copies of periodicals may be borrowed for a one week period. Videos and audio tapes may be reserved and taken out over the weekend.

The library continually receives new additions and the computer section is upgraded and expanded each year.
