Course Outline
The Advanced Subsidiary G.C.E. in Music Technology is a one year course, which enables pupils to continue their musical studies, focusing on the use of music technology for:
interpreting musical ideas (performing, recording, sequencing)
creating and developing musical ideas, (improvising, arranging, composing)
analysing and evaluating (recording, sequencing, refining compositions and recording)
The majority of music produced today is brought to the listener via technology and this is a course which is suitable for students who wish to develop their musical and technical skills. Whilst a G.C.S.E. qualification in Music is desirable before embarking on their course, students who have good basic performance skills and some theoretical knowledge may be considered.
The course:
puts an emphasis on music technology as an area of advanced study in its own right
encourages the use of music technology as a tool for composing, arranging and score writing
provides a thorough grounding in sequencing and multi-track recording skills
introduces the principles of music technology and aural skills through practical and theoretical means
develops interpretative and creative skills through performing and recording
