Course Outline

Candidates following this syllabus will study Drama from exploration through to full-scale performances. The focus at all times will be on depth and quality within the work. This comes from the complete integration of reflection within the practice of creative Drama.
 
The key features of the course are:
emphasis on practical drama
devised performance and text in performance
practical exploration of cultural and historical context
opportunities to create Drama in different media
 
The aims of the course are:
a) to promote construction of drama as a means of enquiry and communication
b) to encourage appraisal through critical analysis and informed judgements as an integral part of the drama process
c) to develop skills relevant to both critical and creative contexts
d) to develop both knowledge and understanding of drama forms and competence in the skills required for their realisation
e) to encourage candidates to become informed and discriminating members of an audience


Career Prospects
As well as any career which requires an 'A' Level qualification, Drama is especially relevant to students who wish to pursue careers in theatre training, media studies, personnel work, teaching and hotel management.
